As a Familiar, you have a working knowledge of human language. You don’t know every word. But you’re pretty good with names...

That Sounds Familiar is a journaling game of acrostic poetry, character-building, and word-thrift. 

In it, you will play as a familiar and help the Wizard run the Emporium by deciphering customers' needs and searching the Storeroom for Cures. 

The game is played in rounds. Playtime varies depending on your journaling style, but one round is designed to last between ten and fifteen minutes. 

To play this game, you will just need one six-sided die and a way to record your entries (paper, pen, notes app, etc).

That Sounds Familiar is a combination of soloRPG, word game, and interactive zine.  It is designed to be easy, replayable, and generative. It can be used for:

• character creation
• breaking creative blocks
• guided fictive journaling

or anything else. This download incudes a full-color, illustrated digital version, as well as:

• A simplified black-and-white printable version,
• One minigame with printable corresponding cards,
• Instructions for one- and two-player gameplay, and
• My whole heart
